Self-Regulated Learning Strategies in Distance Education Courses

Brenda C. Litchfield and John V. Dempsey

Abstract—This paper presents practical guidelines for incorporating self-regulated learning strategies into online courses. Students who used these strategies had positive attitudes and felt more organized. Students also developed a higher level of motivation and satisfaction with the course. In addition, students continued to use these skills in subsequent courses even when they were not required to.
